Release Date: January 23, 2009

I am pleased to report that Greenburgh students who attend the Xposure after school program at the Theodore Young Community Center will be featured in a cover story article that will appear in the January 26, 2009 issue of SCHOLASTIC MAGAZINE-- a national publication that is read by over 2 million readers. The cover and and feature is entitled, "Kids learn the real deal about money".
The inside spread features PICTURES OF OUR XPOSURE STUDENTS under the title, "Money Matters! Kids Learn Valuable Lessons About Making Smart Financial Choices".
 1. Tiara Hills (Xposure Greenburgh)  - holding a piggy bank with the caption, "save"  2. Joshua Orr (Xposure Greenburgh) - holding a envelope filled with money with the caption, "for charity" 3. Jasmine Bradwell (Xposure Greenburgh) - holding a copy of NYTimes financial page with the caption, "invest"   On the back page there is a quiz featuring our students.
The Xposure program  in Greenburgh was made possible due to a $167,500 grant from the Lanza Family Foundation. During the past twenty plus years the town sponsored an after school program at the Theodore Young Community Center. This year we are spending less tax dollars than we had spent previously on after school activities and are providing our youth with the most innovative learning opportunities. Students from Xposure have also been attending the Town Board meetings periodicallly - providing residents of Greenburgh with the opportunity to observe, first hand, what they are doing. The program is open to  students from unincorporated Greenburgh (K-8th grade).

Governor David Patterson decision to appoint United States Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to succeed Hillary Clinton as our United States Senator brough back memories. A few years ago I received a telephone call from Kirsten Gillibrand. At that time she was an attorney. she was considering running for US Congresswoman in Albany and asked me to meet her for lunch to discuss my constituent service outreach program. We met at the former Gregory's Restaurant on Central Ave and had an interesting discussion. Kirsten had an uphill campaign at the time -- she was running in a very heavily Republican district and was a big underdog. She is very intelligent, hard working. I will be inviting her to visit the Town of Greenburgh (Senator Schumer has been here many times, former US Senator Hillary Clinton visited the Theodore Young Community Center twice and the Greenburgh Health Center once). The Obama administration plans to provide billions of dollars to local, county and state governments - to boost the economy. The town is working hard- planning to take advantage of all federal grant opportunities that are going to be available to us.
