Unemployment at the national level is increasing. Yesterday, the United States Labor dept reported that unemployment is now at 9.5%, the highest since 1983. Many Greenburgh residents are out of work. Every day a few more people call or e mail me asking me for help finding them employment opportunities.
Earlier this year I started posting job openings on my Facebook page---on www.linkedin.com (greenburgh jobs group). I also send people who request job listings e mails a few times a week –advising people of jobs. If you are out of work and want to be included on the list –please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. HOW CAN YOU HELP? If you are currently employed – stop by at the personnel office where you work. Find out if there are job openings. E mail me the info and I’ll give a heads up to the people on our list. If you want to do more – you might want to volunteer and introduce some of your neighbors to key personnel officers at your company/place of work.
DON’T GET DISCOURAGED…
Although unemployment is increasing – there are jobs out there to be filled. I am finding that most governments, companies, schools still are hiring people for key jobs. The following is an excerpt from a letter I received yesterday from a woman who did not give up. She’s starting a new job on Monday.

I wanted to let you know that on Monday, I will begin working at the School. I met with Arlene on Tuesday and she offered to keep me busy working in various positions until ready to transfer me over to HR/Benefits.
