APRIL 27 MUSIC FUNDRAISER FOR JAPAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF UPDATE...

Japan Fund Raising Event – Update
 
On Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from noon to 7:30pm at Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Avenue, Greenburgh, NY, a fund raising event to support the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund of will be held in the lobby of Town Hall.  Live music and entertainment will be provided by local talented musicians and singers.  All performing artists are donating their time and talent to help raise funds to support relief and recovery for individuals and families impacted by the Tohoku Japan earthquake that struck Japan on March 11, 2011.  The Japan Earthquake Relief Fund was established by Japan Society, to specifically target affected people in Japan.  Japan Society, located near the United Nations, is “…an American nonprofit organization supported by individuals, foundations and corporations  (as well as the Japanese Embassy) that brings the people of Japan and the United States closer together through mutual understanding, appreciation and cooperation.”  Donations (cash or check) given during the April 27th event will go directly to Japan Society
 
Confirmed performing artists are from around our Town of Greenburgh and Westchester.  They include the following:  Ruth Streiss and the Magic Lantern Show; Valerie Girard and Lawrence Munday; Julie Corbalis, Jules and the Family; David Kain, Gary Meglino (G. Louis); Yayoi Sakaki, Bill Galanin; Jan Leder, Jazz Elite,  Billy Sudderth with Adazeke-Lynn Beville, Image Magicians;  and David Kain. 
 
Openings are still available performing artists.   Performers will be included in press releases and will be recognized by the Greenburgh Town Board on April 27th.  This is a major and significant event in the Town of Greenburgh and we invite your participation as a musician / performing artist.  Music genres – jazz, classical, blues, rhythm and blues, bluegrass, folk, gospel, spiritual, rock, etc. – are welcome.   To participate in this important event, please contact Judith Beville, Greenburgh Town Clerk, at 914-993-1504.
 
We are also holding our new residents/volunteer appreciation reception on April 27th from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. If you would like to attend please RSVP to pfeiner@greenburghny.com or call Paul Feiner at 993 1545. Area restaurants will also be donating food for the event. This event provides residents with a chance to interact with elected and appointed officials. Tell us what you like--what we can do better!
