I was approached today by a representative of an assisted living facility. They reached out to me expressing interest in purchasing part of the Greenburgh Library parking lot which is owned by the town. The price range would be somewhere in the 2-3 million dollar figure. In addition, the town could collect a few hundred thousand dollars of combined taxes.
The representative that I met indicated that they would be prepared to come up with a proposal so that the library does not lose any parking. The assisted living facility would also be receptive to developing a partnership with the library –which could help the library long term. I made no commitments –but am interested in reviewing a proposal.
I asked the assisted living facility representatives to develop a proposal and plan which will be shared with the community. My 2013 budget, which I will release next week complies with the 2% tax levy cap. However—cuts continue to be made in department operating budgets. Additional revenues could help the town long term and could enable us to continue to provide service that residents enjoy.

CROSSROADS SHOPPING CENTER HAS COMMITTED TO A SUPERMARKET. A FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENT AS TO THE TENANT WILL BE ANNOUNCED WITHIN A MONTH.
