Increased Deer Activity
Release Date: November 12, 2004

I have asked Police Chief John Kapica to prepare this  deeradvisory. Many people are probably not aware of this.  Please be careful!

Motorists who travel roads through or reside near wooded areas should be particularly watchful for deer over the next two weeks.  With the advent of the female animals coming into estrous, deerwill become more active during this period.  Deer/car collisions are likely to increase because the animals will abandon all caution in their efforts to breed.  In this part of New YorkStatethis period generally runs between November 10th and November 25th and recurs again in late December for some of the animals.
