Affordable housing at WESTHELP one step closer- Town Board unanimously approves lease
Release Date: October 03, 2013

The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved a sublease with MRH,LLC to create affordable housing units at the former WESTHELP facility. The Town Board vote took place tonight, October 3rd. The town will generate $500,000 per year paid monthly until the towns rights to the property expire on September 30,2031.

MRH has entered into an agreement with Housing Action Council, a non profit organization that specializes in affordable housing to market the residential units to households with incomes meeting the affordable housing income guidelines as determined by the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development.

MRH has entered into an agreement with Cornell Pace Inc, a group with extensive experience dealing with affordable housing to manage the lease premises with respect to the maintenance, operation and repair of the buildings.

Before the lease is signed Westchester County must approve the proposed lease. It's my hope that the County Executive and Board of Legislators will act quickly so we can turn an abandoned building into a beautiful affordable housing project at the Westchester Community College campus.

Subject: Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved lease agreement with MRH tonight for WESTHELP

I am pleased to report that the Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved an agreement with MRH to turn the abandoned WESTHELP facility into 108 units of affordable housing. It's my hope that the County Executive's office and Board of Legislators can approve the lease as soon as possible so we can proceed with plans to create more affordable housing opportunities. I am available to meet with the County Executive or his designees and with members of the Board of Legislators anytime. Many people are interested in moving into the apartments. I hope we can work together on this initiative.

It's my hope that the renovations could start before the holiday season begins--this year! I look forward to hearing from you and working with your office to make this exciting proposal happen. thanks again for your anticipated cooperation.

PAUL FEINER
