FEINER TO RETURN $1,186.67 TO TAXPAYERS
Release Date: December 13, 2004

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, the only elected official in the United States who bases his salary on performance, announced that the Greenburgh Town Board evaluated 75 of his 2004 goals (posted on the web site: www.greenburghny.com.The Board decided on December 13th  that Feiner met 76.27% of his goals. As a result, Feiner will be returning $1,186.67 to the taxpayers. Feiner places $5000 of his salary in escrow. He has been basing part of his salary on goals since 1999.  Previous goals/evaluations are also posted on our web site.

“I believe that every elected official in the United Statesshould base their salary on performance,” said Feiner. Goals encourage elected officials to work harder and to follow up on promises.  It’s also important for elected officials to admit when they did not achieve their objectives for the year.

Feiner said that he is currently working on his 2005 goals –which will be posted on the town web site. I encourage members of the community to provide me with their input and suggestions. E mail pfeiner@greenburghny.com
