THE GREENBURGH SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROJECT--LINK TO TOWN BD DISCUSSION
Release Date: August 07, 2014

A big thank you to Town Clerk Judith Beville for overseeing the 2014 Greenburgh Town Hall summer internship program.    17 students participated (9 college and  8 high school) and worked on  five different project this summer.  Among department heads that took advantage of the summer interns: Cable Television Department, Town Attorney, Tax Assessor, Community Development and Conservation as well as the Philanthropy Department, Offices of the Town Supervisor and Town Clerk.

The students worked on projects focusing on  energy conservation, community outreach & special events promotions, highlighting “success stories” about residents in the town, preparing high school seniors for the college experience, encouraging “thinking outside of the box” regarding securing employment after college and learning about the Offices of the Town Attorney and the Tax Assessor.

Members of the community also spoke with interns.  Speakers included representatives from the Greenburgh Nature Center, ArtsWestchester and a host of town residents and town-affiliated guest speakers, including businessman and financial advisor, Alan Fishman of Edgemont,  entrepreneur, Ken Kendes of Hartsdale, Alan Bigelow of Hastings (Co-Founder of Solar Punch – a solar energy generated band gaining world-wide acclaim)), Tina Harper and Andre Early of the Theodore D. Young Community Center, Jean Hamerman (Neighbor Green), Wendy Elliott, Engineer and NYS Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins along with NYS Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti
