Westchester Sq shopping center site visit...job posting list...happy 75th to DF Lutheran Church
Release Date: December 07, 2014

Members of the Greenburgh Town Board met with residents who live near Westchester Square (Trader Joe's, Best Buy) shopping center on Central Ave on Saturday afternoon to discuss a proposed expansion of the shopping center.

Residents are concerned about the impact an expansion of the shopping center will have on parking, traffic and on nearby residential neighbors. They expressed concern that allowing 2 more stores at the complex will create reduced parking which could create "chaotic conditions on site and with traffic." They invited the Town Board to meet on site during the peak holiday demand to see how packed the parking areas are.  The shopping center was packed with cars on Saturday.

A compromise suggestion was made --that Westchester Square be allowed to expand Trader Joe's but that the proposal to allow for 2 more stores be put on hold until the impacts of a smaller expansion (only Trader Joe's) on the parking situation be evaluated.  We will discuss the compromise proposal with the applicant. And..the Town Board will discuss the application and compromise proposal at a work session in early January. The Planning Board had previously reviewed the application and recommended approval but some of the Planning Board members had voted no.

OUT OF WORK--SIGN UP FOR JOB POSTINGS

For about six years I've been sharing job opportunities with residents who are out of work.  Some residents advise me of job openings at their work place. Many people who are unemployed receive frequent job postings from me.  Many people have found jobs thanks to our job club. Here is an e mail I received this past week from someone who hired one of your neighbors...

If you would like to receive job posts, please advise. I'll add you to the list. If you know of any job openings that I could share with fellow Greenburgh neighbors please advise.

"Hi - I wanted to let you know that we hired Michael who I believe found out about the position due to your efforts. Mike just started last week and we are expecting great things from him. I can't thank you enough. These positions (technical Project Manager) are not easy to fill. Best, Gary"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOBBS FERRY LUTHERAN CHURCH --They are 75 years old! They are celebrating today.
