REPRESENTATIVES OF GAME ON TO APPEAR BEFORE TOWN BOARD WORK SESSION TUESDAY MORNING
Release Date: February 08, 2015

GAME ON ASKS TOWN BOARD TO INITIATE A REVIEW OF A PROPOSAL TO DEVELOP AN INDOOR AND OUTDOOR RECREATION FACILITY ON  PART OF THE GOLF RANGE PROPERTY—BUILDING, NO BUBBLE

Game On has filed a petition to amend the zoning code to initiate a review of a proposal to build an indoor and outdoor privately owned recreation facility on parts of the Golf Range property. Representatives of Game On have requested an opportunity to meet with the Town Board at our work session on Tuesday morning at 10 AM.

Currently, the property is not zoned to allow recreational uses.  The applications states that “there is a  high demand for recreation and athletic space in the town, particularly for use by local school children and sports leagues.”  The project would include an indoor space housed in a permanent structure covering about 107,630 square feet of the approximately 32 acre property. The remaining land would be preserved as open space and used for recreation fields and related uses. The driving range would stay open.

Game On had previously proposed building a sports bubble at the abandoned Frank’s property.  This application is different.  Game on now is proposing a building as opposed to the previously proposed air bubble structure. They believe this will reduce the height of the indoor facility and address some aesthetic concerns neighbors had.

Members of the Town Board and I have not made any decisions on whether to approve or reject the petition.  Obviously, we have to review the application, analyze traffic concerns, consider aesthetic matters neighbors raise and address other questions citizens may have before deciding what to do. Under the law once a review is initiated the Planning Board will be asked for a report and recommendation.

I will ask that the application be posted on the town website so citizens can easily review and comment.  Your thoughts are always appreciated.
PAUL FEINER
