FREE TAX PREPARATION HELP--AARP HAS BEEN OFFERING THIS SERVICE FOR OVER 10 YEARS!
Release Date: March 16, 2015

AARP and the Town of Greenburgh’s Department of Community Resources at Theodore D. Young Community Center (TDYCC) and Department of Parks & Recreation have once again partnered together to provide free tax preparation to residents of the local area.  For over 10 years, the AARP Tax Aide program has operated out of TDYCC and Anthony Veteran Park every weekend from February to April as an invaluable resource to the community.  Free tax services are offered on Fridays and Saturdays between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm in the computer room on the second floor of TDYCC located at 32 Manhattan Avenue and the Anthony Veteran Park Multipurpose Center.
The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service.  Since 1968, it has helped millions of low to moderate income families to prepare their taxes and keep more discretionary income for everyday expenses like food and housing.
“Our partnership with AARP’s Tax-Aide program helps us fulfill our commitment to the families of Fairview-Greenburgh and beyond.  We are happy to connect them to such a reliable and highly trusted service provider.  Over the years, we have learned to trust AARP to take good care of our families during the tax season and all year round,” said Deputy Commissioner André G. Early.
The Tax-Aide program is one of two strong partnerships between AARP and TDYCC. They also partner to offer Diver Safety courses to senior citizens every few months in order to help them save money on car insurance.  These classes can be completed in one day, and are also held at the TDYCC facility.
