The county wide bus system that many of us take for granted happened because of Al Del Bello.
The Westchester County Medical Center became a major hospital under his leadership.
The garbage recycling plant that local governments use today was built thanks to his innovations.
He merged two separate county police agencies. The county governments unemployment level was the lowest in NYS and 45,000 new jobs were created during his tenure.
I served on a Task Force that the County Executive appointed --establishing Bicycle Sundays --now in its 41st year.
Al Del Bello created an office for Women and Office of the Disabled.
He tried turning over Playland to a private management company, something the county is presently attempting to do again.
A summary of some of some of his key accomplishments as County Executive is posted below -see NY TIMES article:

Al Del Bello will be missed.
