Students wanted for zero waste initiative...bands wanted for farmer's market
Release Date: June 29, 2015

Interested in sustainability and human behavior? Want to be part of a program aimed at educating the community about proper recycling and food waste separation for composting? This summer, the Greenburgh Nature Center and the Town of Greenburgh are looking for volunteers over the age of 14 to assist in the Greenburgh Zero Waste Initiative at the Anthony F. Veteran Pool, located at 11 Olympic Lane, Ardsley, NY 10502. The program will be taking place on Saturdays and Sundays from July 11th until September 6th.

Student intern Jeremy Weintraub is organizing a summer concert program beginning July 11th --an invitation to celebrate cultures in Greenburgh at the Hartsdale farmer's market.  If you have a band or would like to perform please e mail  jweintrau@gmail.com

Developers have filed an application to build almost 280 apartments across from the proposed Rivertowns Square development that is currently being built in Dobbs Ferry (next to the Saw Mill River Parkway) and a short distance away from the Lofts housing construction project on Saw Mill River Road that was approved by the Village of Hastings. The Town Board will be interviewing traffic consultants who have expressed interest in being hired to review traffic impacts for the proposed development.
My concern: How will the traffic consultants be able to conduct a review of the application BEFORE Rivertowns Square and the Lofts housing  open? The Rivertowns Square is a mini Ridge Hill development--new open air shopping, stores, movies, entertainment, restaurants, boutiques. The complex is scheduled to open Spring 2016. My personal feeling: we should wait until AFTER THEY OPEN TO CONDUCT TRAFFIC ANALYSIS. This is a question I will ask each applicant. The village of Ardsley is very concerned about the impact this proposed development will have on downtown Ardsley which already is a traffic nightmare.

This is the tentative schedule of the interviews to be conducted. All interviews will be aired live on public access TV and archived on the town website: www.greenburghny.com. What questions would you like us to ask the potential traffic consultants? E mail townboard@greenburghny.com.
