1st interview traffic consultant this AM..Ask ?s Wed night re: ESCO to lower Con Ed rates
Release Date: July 07, 2015

1ST INTERVIEW WITH TRAFFIC CONSULTANT THIS MORNING AT 9:30 am RE: JEFFERSON APARTMENT COMPLEX
TOWN BD TO HEAR MORE COMMENTS TOMORROW NIGHT  --SUSTAINABLE WESTCHESTER
PALISADES VIEW SAVED!  ...DEVELOPER REDUCES HEIGHT OF BUILDING BY MORE THAN HALF!
The Town Board will be conducting our 1st interview with a potential traffic consultant today close to 9:30 AM. We are interviewing consultants this summer and will select a firm to analyze the proposal to build almost 280 apartments  off the Saw Mill River Parkway on the Greenburgh/Ardsley/Dobbs Ferry border (across the street from the Rivertowns Square development which is currently under construction).
Called Jefferson at Saw Mill River, the proposed development by JPI Multifamily Partners LLC is at 1 Lawrence St. on vacant property that was the former site of the Akzo Nobel chemical plant.  I have publicly expressed concerns about the ability to accurately analyze traffic BEFORE the Rivertowns Square project and LOFTS opens up. Hopefully the consultants we interview this summer will explain. Our Town Board work sessions are always aired live on public access TV and streamed on our website: www.greenburghny.com. You can also watch the Board meetings anytime-anywhere- on our website since we archive work sessions on the website.

If you have questions or comments about the proposal being considered by the Town Board to enter into an agreement with Sustainable Westchester for the purposes of reducing Con Ed rates by participating in an ESCO with other localities - please attend the Town Board meeting this Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Your thoughts are welcome. The Greenburgh Town Board is considering a local law that could reduce your rates by as much as $600 a year. Some residents expressed concern that once the town enters into an agreement with Sustainable Westchester everyone is included in the ESCO unless they opt out. Meeting being held at Town Hall Wed.

The Palisades has been protected. Last year I sent out an e list advisory urging Greenburgh residents to add their voice to those who were concerned about a proposal to build a 143 Foot  high building in Englewood Cliffs. This building would have destroyed the views of the Palisades that residents of Greenburgh and the river villages enjoy.

LG, litigants and other key groups who led the Protect the Palisades campaign announced a win-win agreement late last month that will protect the iconic view shed of the Palisades, while allowing the company to build a new North American headquarters in Englewood Cliffs.
The company’s new headquarters will be 69 feet, less than half the height of the 143-foot-high building originally proposed. And as the simulations below show, the 69-foot building will no longer loom over the ridgeline of the Palisades cliffs north of the George Washington Bridge.
.
The next step is to more permanently preserve the Palisades with New Jersey State legislation to prevent similar local zoning battles in the future.

MY POST FROM LAST YEAR SAVE THE VIEWS GREENBURGH RESIDENTS ENJOY OF THE SPECTACULAR PALISADES
Release Date: July 26, 2014
Earlier today I was bicycling around Hastings and Dobbs Ferry - enjoying the views of the spectacular Palisades.  Sometimes we take for granted this ageless natural wonder.
Sadly, the views of the Palisades from our side of the river may be destroyed. LG USA plans to build a 143 foot high LG office tower in Engelwood Cliffs, just 50 yards from the Palisades Interstate Park. If this happens an American natural and historic landmark that is enjoyed by millions will be destroyed.

An online petition sponsored by Protect the Palisades needs your signature. We urge LG to alter their plan and to use a low rise building design that would preserve, not destroy the Palisades while still meeting LGs need. The new design would also provide as many jobs for Englewood Cliffs and the same taxes.  Environmentalists, lawmakers, the Board of Legislators and many others from both sides of the river are working hard to protect this treasure.

Once the natural beauty of the Palisades is destroyed it cannot be reclaimed.
