HYUNDAI CAR DEALERSHIP ON CENTRAL AVE APPROVED…MORE SIDEWALKS BEING BUILT

Earlier this week the Planning Board granted special permit and site plan approval for a new Hyundai Car Dealership at 111 Central Park Avenue South in Hartsdale. The existing building on the site (Formerly Barnes and Noble, and more recently a seasonal store) will be renovated and updated to a car showroom, office and related dealership uses. The applicant will be implementing new attractive landscaping on the site and will be constructing a new sidewalk along a portion of Central Park Avenue and South Washington Avenue. Hyundai will be the 4th Car dealership on Central Park Avenue in the Town of Greenburgh and the first new dealership since the recent enactment of legislation by the Town Board to permit new Car dealerships in the CA District. Construction is anticipated to commence in the next few months with an opening expected in 2016.

In 2015 the Town of Greenburgh was awarded a CDBG award to pay for the construction of a new sidewalk on Secor Road from Leona Place to Saw Mill River Road (Rt. 9A) and extending along Saw Mill River Road to the northbound Bee Line bus station. The Town Board, at its upcoming meeting on April 13th will consider selecting a surveyor and engineer to design the sidewalk. Construction of these sidewalks are slated to be complete later this year.

Below is a list of sidewalks that are anticipated to be constructed in 2016. Over 1.5 miles of new sidewalks (approximately 8,015 linear ft.).

Underhill Road/Sprain Road – 680 ft. in connection with Toll Brothers Subdivision.

Knollwood Road – 570 ft. in front of Solomon Schechter. *

Knollwood Road – 550 ft. in connection with Prospero Nursery. *

Central Park Avenue South – 550 ft. in front of the Esplanade. *

Central Park Avenue South – 125 ft. in front of the Fountain Diner.  *

Central Park Avenue South/S. Washington Avenue - 550 ft. along Hyundai’s frontage. *

Hampton Terrace/Downing Drive West – 800 ft. in connection with Rabin-Alexander Subdivision.

Benedict Avenue - 1,700 ft. opposite Hackley School’s frontage. *

Henry Street – 200 ft. in front of Ostashkin Dance Studio on Central Park Avenue South. *

Secor Road/Rt. 9A – 1,200 ft. as part of CDBG funding.

Seely Place – 850 ft.  (to Seely Place School)

Old Saw Mill River Road  - 240 ft. along Regeneron’s frontage.

Additionally, We’re working to extend the sidewalk from Fort Hill Road South (Ardsley Road) down to Penny Lane and also hope to build a sidewalk on Sprain Road to the Middle School.

*in connection with site plan approval.

Separate from above, in 2015, close to 1.5 miles of sidewalks were constructed in unincorporated Greenburgh along portions of Rt. 119, Benedict Avenue, Dobbs Ferry Road, Knollwood Road, Saw Mill River Road, Central Park Avenue and Hillcrest Road.
