Fire district election tomorrow --CONTESTED ELECTION IN HARTSDALE, UNCONTESTED IN FV & GREENVILLE
Release Date: December 12, 2016

New York State schedules the annual fire district elections at a time most people aren't focusing on local government: in December, right before the holidays. Usually, very few people vote. But -the fire district elections are important.  Fire district taxes are almost as high as town taxes.   The Fire districts are totally independent of the town government. The Board of Fire Commissioners sets policy for the fire district, approves a budget, approves contracts for their employees. Meetings are held at the Fire Houses.

IN HARTSDALE there is a CONTESTED election. Incumbent Fire Commissioner Frances Stanley is being challenged by Poet's Corner Civic Association President Mona Fraitag. Elections are being held from 3 to 9 PM at the Hartsdale Fire Department on Central Ave (near the diner).

In Fairview retired Fairview Fire Department Deputy Chief John Malone is running unopposed Election on Tuesday, December 13th at the Fairview Fire Department Headquarters at 19 Rosemont Blvd and 290 Worthington Road from 4 PM to 9 PM.

The Annual Election of the Greenville Fire District will take place on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. at Greenville Fire District  Headquarters, 711 Central Avenue, Scarsdale, for the purpose of electing one commissioner for a FIVE year term, commencing on January 1, 2017 and ending on December 31, 2021.

This year, Commissioner Helene Orce, Board Chair, is running to keep her seat.  There are no other names on the ballot.

All duly registered residents of the Greenville Fire District as of November 21, 2016 shall be eligible to vote.

Pease vote.

PAUL FEINER
