A PLEASANT SURPRISE--SOME CONSTITUENTS COMPLIMENTING POSTAL SERVICE FOR IMPROVEMENTS
Release Date: February 05, 2017

PLEASANT SURPRISE--SOME CONSTITUENTS COMPLIMENTING POSTAL SERVICE FOR IMPROVEMENTS, MAIL SERVICE AFTER YEARS OF NON STOP COMPLAINTS

In 2014, after receiving numerous complaints about the quality of our Postal Service, I posted  a message on the town e list asking residents for feedback. Within hours I received 80 complaints -- mail delivered to wrong addresses, not delivered at all. Medicines not being delivered. Bills not being received. Since 2014 I have forwarded hundreds of complaints to the Postal Service.

Last year I wrote to the United States Postmaster in Washington highlighting the problem And, got the chance to speak directly with the Chief Operating Officer of the United States Postal Service, David Williams who promised to work to make things better. He assigned Richard Conte, district administrator the responsibility of addressing complaints.

I still get complaints. Millions of letters are processed at the White Plains district office. It's inevitable that there will always be some errors (nothing is perfect). But --I also feel that the Postal Service is trying to address problems.  People are starting to notice improvements.  Richard Conte told me that every complaint is given attention, they have focused more attention on training and are monitoring sections of the town where there have been complaints, taking steps to improve service.

These are some of the complimentary letters about the Postal Service  I received yesterday.   After non stop complaining - it's nice to be able to say to the US Postal Service-- THANK YOU for trying to improve service in our area.  I hope that service continues to improve.

Feel free to continue to e mail me with your concerns and compliments. It's important that you be able to rely on the Postal Service for accurate mail delivery.

Paul-  - have NEVER had one issue with the USPS in  the 42+ years we have been here. Have used mainly the Hastings P.O. but also the Dobbs and Ardsley branches- always nice service.  FYI—dennis Hastings---

Thanks for this Paul - I wanted to tell you that a few days ago a relief mail carrier - not my regular guy - actually rang my bell to talk to me about our mail issues, specifically the missing package that I wrote to you about after having been scanned as delivered to my door. but nowhere to be seen. Mysteriously, that package appeared without explanation.  The carrier had a message for me from the Postmaster which I do appreciate - that they are aware of the problems and trying to address them.  My concern is the practice of scanning packages as delivered when it appears they may not have even left the  post office, making tracking and followup a joke. The carrier said he would bring that message back.

I do  think your intervention may have helped - at least it shines a light on it and gives us some avenues for recourse.  Thank you for that.

Best, Tina

Paul

Your efforts are very much appreciated. Things at the Hartsdale post office have shown signs of improvement since Ms Alicia Reed arrived as Postmaster. She is responsive, available and frequently observed behind the counter helping customers.

Keep up the good work.

Best regards
Richard

We have never had an issue with our mail delivery in the manor woods area. Mail is consistently delivered and arrives at approx the same time every day. And our mail carriers are all polite, kind and courteous.
Thanks
F
