WILL MAKE IT SAFE FOR HUNDREDS OF RESIDENTS TO WALK TO E HARTSDALE AVE AND TO SHOPS ON CENTRAL AVE, DOWNTOWN HARTSDALE!

We just  received some fantastic news! Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a press release announcing that NYS  approved a grant application of $792,000 to build a sidewalk along the west side of Central Park Ave from the four corners intersection south to Marion Ave. This new sidewalk will be a great enhancement for residents of Hartsdale Park. Residents will be able to walk to the four corners and to downtown Hartsdale safely. Residents of E Hartsdale Ave will be able to safely walk to some of the shops on Central Ave.

Central Ave is a New York State road. Parts of the avenue have sidewalks. Other parts don't. Eventually I'd like to see the entire section of Central Ave have sidewalks so residents can safely walk from the White Plains line to Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers.

A special thank you to Governor Andrew Cuomo, State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins, Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, the Hartsdale Park Civic Association and the Greenburgh Council of Civic Associations for their help in supporting the grant. Commissioner of Planning Garrett Duquesne spent many hours working on the grant application. Alan Fishman,, devoted many hours lobbying state lawmakers for the funding.

During the past few years the town has been waging an aggressive effort to make Greenburgh more pedestrian friendly. Miles of new sidewalks have been built around the town. And miles more have to be built to make our town a much more pedestrian friendly community. We are committed to building more sidewalks around town every year.   And, will continue to apply for state and federal grants to offset town funding for sidewalks. Among sidewalks to be built within the next year: Juniper Hill, Columbia Ave (off E Hartsdale Ave), Secor Road (from Housing Authority site to Saw Mill River Road), Benedict Ave.
