Good news Juniper Hill water tank fully operational--water pressure shouldn't be a problem
Release Date: June 13, 2017

Commissioner of Public Works Victor Carosi has advised..

we're pleased  pleased to announce the Juniper Hill Road Water Tank is now in service and fully operational.  Earlier today the Water District was informed the recently renovated water tank at Juniper Hill Road was properly disinfected, clearing the  District to place this tank back into operation.  With this elevated water storage tank back in regular service, water pressure fluctuations and discoloration experienced by some customers in our Longview Road service area should be minimized.

This 750,000 gallon elevated water storage tank is the first of several water tanks to be fully renovated under a multi-year contract authorized by the Town Board late in 2015 to Utility Service Company, Inc.  Under this $4,803,148 contract USC is rehabilitating and painting the Juniper Hill Road, Glenville, and East Irvington water storage tanks to provide for the long-term serviceability of these major infrastructure components of the Towns’ water system.  The Juniper Hill Road tank was first removed from service in March of 2016 for repairs and painting of the interior portions of the tank and structure.  Then, in the fall of 2016 it was again removed from service as a scaffold was erected around the outside of the tank enabling workers to perform maintenance and safety improvements to the tanks outer steel and support structure.  Work was suspended over the winter and resumed this spring with blasting the old paint coatings from the exterior surfaces and coating the steel with a high quality, long lasting finish.  An exterior recoat is not anticipated for at least 10-years.

Last fall USC competed painting of the East Irvington 600,000 gallon water standpipe and the Town engineers are now planning work for the Glenville 1,000,000 gallon Hydropillar elevated water storage tank anticipated to commence at the end of this summer.  Looking ahead, the Town Board has authorized capital expenditures of $3,000,000 for the renovation and painting of the Birchwood water storage tank, a project expected to start in 2018.  In total, the Consolidated Water District anticipates approximately $14,000,000 in water tank improvements through 2019, focusing on the remaining two storage tanks at Knollwood and Fairview.
