DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC WORKS AND ONE OF OUR ENGINEERS BRIEFING STUDENTS ON NYS ROADS IN GREENBURGH THAT ARE IN HORRIBLE SHAPE

PREPARING FOR  OUR LOBBYING EFFORT TO PRESS NYS TO REPAVE ROADS THEY OWN IN GREENBURGH

NYS has not repaved a road in the town in the past three years. And, some of the roads are in horrible condition. This summer student interns working in town offices will be organizing an aggressive lobbying effort to press NYS to repave roads they own in our town. A major concern: Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley. The road is a disaster.  Parts of Dobbs Ferry Road, Central Ave and other state roads are also in bad shape.

To prepare the students for the lobbying initiative – Rich Fon, deputy commissioner of public works and Brian Simmons –an engineer with the town, met with the students last week to discuss the roads that are owned by NYS, the poor road conditions.  As part of our internship program students are learning about road repaving, budgets.  The students taped the meeting which can be watched in its entirety below.

Two goals: Get the state roads repaved. Teach students how to make their voices heard when dealing with government officials. Teach them how to lobby.
