Police night out had a nice turnout till it rained...saluting a Hastings on Hudson police officer
Release Date: August 07, 2018

Tonight the Greenburgh police department sponsored their annual Police Night out at Greenburgh Town Hall. We had a great turnout for almost an hour—about 150 people  enjoyed the festivities until it started to rain. Had a great time and met some terrific constituents.  Disappointed that the well organized event ended earlier than planned. Glad that the police plan to donate unused food for another community event.  (see photos)

Our police work hard  and are dedicated to your safety and quality of life.. Here is an article about Hastings on Hudson police officer Jessie Ferreira Cavallo who risked her life  in a very daring NY rescue to save a boy. She represents the best of the best.  The following appeared in lohud.com. Hastings is a village within Greenburgh with an independent police department. The town and village polices do work with each other.

A 12-year-old boy is recovering after he plunged off a Yonkers overpass and a Hastings-on-Hudson police officer jumped to help him on Friday.

New details have emerged about how the boy ended up tumbling off the Saw Mill River Parkway onto Tuckahoe Road, where police officers who were driving by stopped to help when they saw the scary scene.

"Everything happened so fast and I think my adrenaline was pumping so high," Hastings Officer Jessie Ferreira Cavallo said over the weekend. "He just climbed up and jumped off."

Ferreira, who was on her way to work in the village, was one of a few passers-by to stop and help. She said she jumped after the boy and helped him after he was unresponsive on the ground.

The boy is expected to survive, though, after he was taken to Westchester Medical Center with a broken arm, broken nose, and leg injuries, Kieran O'Leary, a Westchester County police spokesman, said today
