Over 60 dogs attended the “BARK FOR A DOG PARK” rally at GreenburghTown Hallon Wednesday, June 14th. The dogs, most wearing patriotic costumes, came to the Town Hall with about 100 children, town & county officials, dog lovers and owners to push for a dog park at RidgePark. Commissioner of Parks Gerry Byrne reports that a location has been found at RidgePark(a county park) for the dog park. The county will designate the land for the park…the town has secured a $43,000 state grant for the park. Buddy’s Barking Lot has agreed to pay for the maintenance of the park. It’s my hope that the agreement between the county and town can be approved this summer and that residents who have dogs will have their dog park soon.
The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the Supervisor to execute a lease agreement with participating farmers for the farmer’s market on East Hartsdale Ave. Last week I knocked on doors of every merchant on East Hartsdale Ave– asking for input on whether the farmer’s market should continue. The response from merchants and residents was very positive. The market will begin in July on Saturday mornings.
The Greenburgh Town Board also authorized the creation of a permanent affordable housing committee and designated Councilwoman Eddie Mae Barnes to develop such a committee.
Earlier in the evening there was a dedication of a series of paintings and batik prints related to energy conservation by students at WoodlandsHigh School. The collaborative project involved Greenburgh Central 7 Schools, the arts council and our energy conservation office.. CAPTURED ENERGY will be displayed at the auditorium of Town Hall. Nikki Coddington, our energy conservation coordinator, first envisioned the project as an artistic interpretation of Greenburgh’s recent installation of solar energy panels at Town Hall. Students created spectacular interpretations of various aspects of energy conservation.
