COMMUNITY OUTREACH AT POOL, MASSARO PARK AND WEBB PARK...RIDGE HILL UPDATE
Release Date: June 19, 2006

I spent a number of hours chatting with residents at the town pool on Saturday and Sunday seeking their feedback on pool related concerns..  A request from a number of pool patrons: the need for more shaded areas at locations around the pool -especially around the kiddy pool.
On Monday evening, June 19th  at 7 PM we will conduct our annual walking inspection of Massaro Park in North Elmsford. Residents who have concerns about  N Elmsford  or about Massaro Park are invited to join us.
This Wednesday we will hold a meeting at Webb Park on Central Ave at 7 PM to discuss possible landscaping at Webb Park. Congresswoman Nita Lowey was instrumental in securing a $97,000 grant from the federal government to enhance the park- especially around the 9/11 memorial wall. Some members of the Town Board have requested additional time to consider whether or not the town should accept the federal dollars.  I feel strongly that the town should accept the dollars. It's my hope that the grant will be accepted by the Town Board by early July, at the latest.  It should be pointed out that the town had originally applied for the grant, lobbied for the grant.
The Town Board discussed the proposal initiated by Yonkers City Officials to have direct access from the Sprain Brook Parkway to the proposed Ridge Hill Development site if the development is approved by Yonkers. We would like to see meaningful density reduction of the almost 3 million sq feet of proposed development on the Yonkers/Greenburgh border. We support the proposed direct access plan and believe that this is a positive proposal to address the traffic issues. We cannot support the project without meaningful density reduction.                                                            -                              -

Earlier in the week I sent a letter to Chuck Lesnick suggesting a meeting with Yonkersofficials, the developers, town officials and civic leaders to discuss possible density reduction proposals.
