REIMBURSEMENT REQUESTED FOR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE OUT OF POWER
Release Date: September 11, 2006

Dear Con Ed customer:

I would appreciate your help in pressuring the PSC to order Con Ed to reimburse customers for loss of power. Please send me copies of any letter that you send to the PSC.  My address is Paul Feiner, Greenburgh Town Supervisor, 177 Hillside Ave, GreenburghNY, 10607(pfeiner@greenburghny.com). I understand that Con Ed is denying residents any reimbursement for last weeks storm.   Thanks.

In addition, claims against Con Ed should be mailed to customerclaims@coned.com. Karen Andersen is with the Office of Consumer Services at the PSC. Her phone is 1-800-342-3377.

REQUESTING THAT PSC ORDER CON ED TO REIMBURSE CON ED CUSTOMERS FOR FOOD SPOILAGE FROM LAST WEEKS STORM

Dear Chairman Flynn:

This letter is being written on behalf of over 1,000 Greenburgh residents who were out of power last week after the last storm. I understand that one out of five Con Ed customers in Westchesterhad no electricity. Some people were out of power for one day, others for six days. Businesses lost

This is not the first time that Con Ed customers have been without power this year. Some of my constituents have been out of power five, six or seven times in 2006—for at least three or four days.

After the July storm it was determined that residential customers may submit a claim for a maximum amount of $350 for food spoiled due to the lack of refrigeration. Receipts are not necessary. The question I have is this: Why won’t Con Ed reimburse ratepayers for the September storm –which impacted thousands of people?

I ask that the State Public Service Commission order Con Ed to reimburse all customers who were without power for food that was spoiled. If Con Ed is required to reimburse customers for the outages –maybe they will have an incentive to do a better job the next time there is a storm.

Sincerely,

PAUL FEINER
