ROTARY CLUB SPONSORING 9/11 MEMORIAL THIS SUNDAY AT 4 PM
Release Date: September 03, 2008

The Rotary International District 7230 will be holding a memorial ceremony on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 4 PM at the Richard Presser Park (Webb Field, Central Ave) in honor and in memory of the victims of 9/11.
The ceremony will take place at the Peoples Memorial Wall at Presser Park. This 110 foot long wall has special significance as it was a joint effort of almost 2000 people. 2,000 individuals painted tiles dedicated to the memories of those who lost their lives on 9/11. Artists included children, senior citizens, community leaders and others from around the county. The magnificent artwork depicts hope as well as remembrance.
Greenburgh Councilman Kevin Morgan, who was just sworn in as President of Elmsford Rotary Club, said that the park was recently landscaped and enhanced – thanks to a $97,000 grant from Congresswoman Nita Lowey. The Rotary Club repainted the back of the wall –highlighting 100 years of Rotary Club service to the community. There are plantings, and sitting areas. The funding for the wall construction came from fundraising efforts from Rotary International District 7230. Luis Del Rosario chaired the effort to raise funds for the wall.
We encourage everyone to attend. We must never forget the memories of those who lost their lives on this tragic day – 9/11.
