200 to 1 FOR ACQUISITION OF TAXTER RIDGE

An informal advisory vote took place at the end of a community meeting open to all residents of Greenburgh to discuss the acquisition of 200 acres of Taxter Ridge as open space (Unification Church property in E Irvington). The vote was about 200-l for the acquisition. Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner indicated that he received 3 e mails against the acquisition. The overwhelming vote in favor of the town contributing $3.7 million (one third of the price) to acquire this parcel of land followed a town wide mailing. The town comptroller provided residents with a projection of future budgets/tax increases as well. The Irvington School Board sent a representative to the meeting supporting the acquisition. Other elected officials and civic leaders also spoke out for the acquisition. The Greenburgh Town Board will vote on the acquisition this Wednesday night at the Town Board meeting : 7:l5 PM at the multipurpose center, veteran town park.
