More open government...
Release Date: July 08, 2003

In recent months some of my critics have complained about the 3 minute rule at Town Board meetings. Residents are provided with up to 3 minutes to say anything on their mind-- a procedure that exists in other legislative bodies (such as the Board of Legislators). I have given the critical comments some thought. Effective with the next Town Board meeting (July l6th at Babbitt Court) the following will take place: residents will have 3 minutes at the beginning of each meeting to speak. At the end of the meeting -after business is complete (until ll:30 PM)- I will provide any resident with the opportunity to speak as long as they want about anything. Questions will be answered. If I don't have answers I'll respond by the next meeting. Department heads and staff will not have to stay during this portion of the meeting.
