Ardsley wants waterwheel property to be used for affordable housing--considering overlay zone
Release Date: November 12, 2009

The Village of Ardsley will be holding a Public Hearing on November 16 at Ardsley Village Hall, to take comment on a proposed affordable housing overlay zone for the Village. This rezone will impact the waterwheel property and will require some of the units to be affordable. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the proposed law please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. I will also be asking our webmaster to post the proposed zone change on the town website: www.greenburghny.com (under forms).
The town of Greenburgh currently owns the waterwheel property. We have been working with the village -trying to create affordable housing opportunities on the property for volunteer firefighters, ambulance corp workers. The village and town reviewed various proposals and selected a developer. However, the preferred developer has not been able to come up with the 10% non refundable deposit that the town asked for. On November 19th the town will be auctioning off the waterwheel property at a public auction. For information on the auction contact the Assessor's office at 993-1520. The minimum price we're going to sell the land for is $1.2 million.
