TOWN BOARD MEETING APPROVES MAJOR ACTIONS ON 1/28
Release Date: January 28, 2004

The Greenburgh Town Board appointed David Kreiness and Mary Jane Shimsky as co-chairs of the committee to monitor the Ridge Hill proposed development at our meeting on 1/28. We also retained the services of an outside counsel, environmental review and traffic impact review consultants to assist us as we review the massive development proposal on the Yonkers/Greenburgh border.

On another matter…the Town Board approved the lease of 1800 square feet of space at our new Town Hall to AT&T Federal Credit Union. The Credit Union is paying for 2200 sq ft but getting only 1800 sq feet (the union is paying for access to other parts of the building). The town will receive about $44,000 a year in rent. The tenant will be paying utility costs and will assume all the costs of construction. They will have access to the building only during regular Town Hall business hours and there is a cost of living increase in rent every year.

The Town Board unanimously approved a resolution objecting to the provisions of the Patriot’s Act—which gives the Bush administration the ability to monitor everything from e mail to medical records to library accounts, providing access to once private information. Protecting the constitution and Bill of Rights is what our country is all about.

We also approved a bond resolution authorizing the issuance of $218,000 in bonds to pay for the cost of the reconstruction of the wall at the TheodoreYoungCommunity Center.
