Release Date: March 05, 2004

GreenburghTown Supervisor Paul Feiner signed legal documents this morning  enabling the town to take part ownership in Taxter Ridge, Greenburgh’s newest park. The land previously was owned by the UnificationChurchand is located off of TaxterRoadin Irvington.  200 acres of precious open space will be preserved as parkland. Other partners included the state and county governments (each entity will be paying one third of the costs). The Villageof Tarrytownwill be a part owner of about 20 acres within Tarrytown.

Feiner said that he is delighted that this land acquisition finally happened. I’m thrilled that the town’s open space inventory has increased from 224 acres when I first assumed office to 600 acres now.  Feiner also said that this is a perfect example of the way governments should work. We worked cooperatively with the state, county and neighborhood.
The Greenburgh Town Board is tentatively scheduled to hold a meeting at the park on Saturday, April 3rd at
11 AMto dedicate the land as permanent parkland.
