Potential of local flooding

 The National Weather Service has issued a  Flash Flood Watch which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening. ·         SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT COULD BRING RAINFALL TOTALS OF AS MUCH AS 2 TO 3 INCHES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THIS MAY RESULT IN SIGNIFICANT URBAN FLOODING AS WELL AS FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED. National Weather Service Forecast for White Plains:·         Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3am. Areas of fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 60. South wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 9am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Areas of fog before 9am. High near 68. South wind between 13 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.Thursday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 9pm. The rain could be heavy at times. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 52. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind between 8 and 17 mph.Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 43. Northwest wind between 9 and 14 mph.
