The Greenburgh Library has been working with Todd Harvey, architect on a proposal to expand the library. Mr. Harvey presented the members of the Greenburgh Town Board with a proposed conceptual design at Tuesday's Town Board work session which was televised on cable TV. The building design is estimated to cost between $15 and $16 million dollars. The proposed rendering is attached. We've gotten positive initial feedback about the proposed design. The Greenburgh Town Board and Supervisor Feiner will be holding numerous outreach meetings to get community feedback on the design and the costs associated with this proposal. In addition, we're reviewing certain measures that could reduce our costs. These measures include selling the old Town Hall site for about $2.8 million (about $300,000 a year in taxes to the county, town, school, fire districts). On Wednesday, March 24th the Greenburgh Town Board will discuss voting on a proposed resolution that would authorize the Town administration to begin negotiating with Sunrise Assisted Living Facility. The architect for the library and Greenburgh Library Board recommended that the town sell the old Town Hall site to this applicant. At last nights Town Board work session Todd Harvey, library architect, indicated that the old Town Hall site is surplus property and has no significant value for library use.
