Release Date: May 14, 2004

Richard Garfunkel, Deputy Supervisor for Liaisons and a member of the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation Advisory Board has submitted the following suggestion re: a Greenburgh Beautification Committee. If you’d like to get involved and serve on such a committee – please e mail pfeiner@greenburgh.com. Your thoughts on Richard’s suggestions would be appreciated.

PAUL FEINER

I believe that the Town of Greenburgh should do the following:

A) Set up a Town-wide Beautification Board with oversight regarding neighborhood enhancement.

B) This Board would raise and provide matching funds to neighborhood associations

C) These matching funds could be limited to a set amount ($1000 per season).

D) These beautification efforts should (could) to be limited to common areas that serve defined

     neighborhoods, esplanades, traffic circles, etc.

E) Funds for this Board could raised from corporate contributions, private individuals, or licensing fees

    charges to landscapers and gardeners.

F) This Board should be made up of a "blue ribbon" group that understands the esthetics of

neighborhood beautification and should be certainly mixed with people qualified and acquainted with a background

    in horticulture or landscape design.
