Yesterday I posted an e mail advising that Solomon Schecter School is requesting the NYS Department of Transportation to allow the school to pay for a traffic light to be placed at their entrance. This would eliminate the need to continue to pay the town for police when school is let out every day. Some residents expressed concern—wondering if a new light will result in traffic congestion. I received the following e mail from the police chief which should clarify these concerns. Thought you would be interested… PAUL FEINER As Commissioner Madden has stated a request has been made New York State Department of Transportation to have this synchronized with the other lights. I also suggested that this light be activated by a tripper system so the light would only turn red for Hartsdale Ave. when someone was actually leaving the school which would result in a steady green most of the time.
