FOLLOW UP TO TRAVIS PARK COMPLAINTS

At last nights Town Board meeting some residents who live near Travis Park complained about the conditions of Travis Park. Among concerns: conditions at the restrooms, need for more benches/tables, cleanliness of the park.  Howard Kaplan, Parks & Recreation Board Chair and Richard Garfunkel, member of the Parks & Recreation Board & Deputy Supervisor for Liaisons was present at the meeting. Immediate follow up attention is taking place. Richard Garfunkel today conducted a site inspection visit and will issue a report to the members of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board at their meeting next Wednesday night at 7:30 PM. Howard Kaplan advised me that he has included this item on the agenda next Wednesday (meeting will take place at AF Veteran Town Park Multipurpose Building).  In addition, I have scheduled a Town Board meeting at the park on Wednesday, September 8th.  Thanks to Howard Kaplan, Richard Garfunkel and Commissioner of Parks Gerry Byrne for their immediate follow up attention. The Town Board approved a home rule request last night seeking permission from the State Legislature to create a 3rd part time Judge. Elections could be held this November!
