ELMSFORD ANIMAL SHELTER SEEKS FAMILIES TO ADOPT OLDER DOGS WHO NEVER HAD A HOME!
Release Date: April 13, 2012

There is a non profit organization in Greenburgh called Pets Alive. They previously were known as the Elmsford Animal Shelter but now are affiliated with a no kill animal shelter based in Middletown.  The shelter is located near Sam's Club in the Elmsford section of unincorporated Greenburgh.

I spent some time at the shelter this week with my daughter who has been volunteering there with a friend. Among the goals of the shelter: to find families to adopt older dogs who never had a home.  I was very impressed. Many volunteers helping out during the week. And, the staff are so dedicated to the animals. The shelter seems to be taking very good care of the dogs and cats.

There is an older dog waiting for adoption. The dog, Smokey, never had a home. This is a description of Smokey... If you like dogs (and who doesn't) and want to give a 'senior citizen dog' some happiness - consider Smokey: Smokey is a satisfied couch potato, but also a good... long-distance stroller. He enjoys lap-sitting, scratches behind the ears, and any available treats to chomp on. Easy-going and easy to please, Smokey's heart sings when he goes for walks in the sunshine.

He is a legacy animal from the previous organization at Pets Alive Westchester, and has spent 13 of his 14 years awaiting his very own family. You can give Smokey a family for the first time through foster or adoption. Pets Alive Westchester provides lifelong medical care for foster pets if you provide the love.

If you know the right person for Smokey, tell them that he is waiting to be picked up at Pets Alive Westchester (PAW) in Elmsford. To meet Smokey, or any other pet, please call 914-592-7334 or drop by at 100 Warehouse Lane.
