SIGNIFICANT CRIME AT RECORD LOWS
Release Date: July 31, 2004

Significant crime in Greenburgh fell to a new record low during the first six months of 2004. Part 1 offenses (homicide, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, mv theft, larceny) is down by 12.3% (457 in 2004 compared to 521 in 2003).  Part II offenses (less significant incidents) is up slightly: 2.5% (1019 compared to 994).  Part 1 offenses are at the lowest levels in town recorded history.  The slight increase in part II offenses may be attributable to more aggressive policing: parking tickets, traffic tickets, speeding enforcement, etc..  PAUL FEINER
