ENERGY FROM NON POLLUTING WIND TURBINES
Release Date: October 07, 2004

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner will recommend to the Town Board to enter into an agreement with Community Energy to purchase approximately 3% of its electricity from non polluting wind turbines.  Wind energy is 100% emission and pollution free. The potential for wind power in NYS is tremendous. By making a commitment to purchase wind energy, Greenburgh is encouraging the development and use of clean, alternative source of energy by demonstrating demand and helping to bring down its price. The proposed agreement will result in Greenburgh purchasing 346,985 kWh of electricity per year (about 3%  of the town’s electricity) from wind energy at an additional cost of 1.4 cents per kWh or $4,858 per year for a period of 5 years, effective January 1, 2005. The Villageof Ardsleyrecently entered into a similar agreement.  The Town Board will be voting on this resolution next Wednesday night at our Town Board meeting. Nikki Coddington, Greenburgh’s Energy Conservation Coordinator, worked on the New Wind Energy purchase agreement.
