Speed humps installed on South Washington!
Release Date: October 13, 2004

One of the most rewarding aspects of being Town Supervisor is the ability to be responsive to local complaints and concerns. Sometimes, problems get resolved quickly. Other times –they take time. (Getting funds to put Babbitt Courthomes on stilts to address flooding problems solved a 50 year old problem!) Every time a neighborhood expresses a concern about a quality of life issue, we try to give the matter  our attention. If a plan doesn’t work out – we will keep trying until we get results.

13 years ago I met with residents of S.  Washington Ave in Hartsdale – a street that is used by many to bypass the 4 corners in Hartsdale. Lots of traffic on this street. After our meeting we made the street one way. But, there was a tremendous amount of traffic backup on W Hartsdale Ave–so the one way restriction was overturned.  Today, we started installing  speed humps on this street. S Washington Aveis the 2nd street in town to have speed humps –the other street is Columbia. We anticipate that as a result of the speed humps traffic will slow down on S Washington Aveand that fewer cars will use the street as a cut through. I observed the crew placing the speed humps on the street – difficult work –but our employees were working very hard when I made my unannounced visit!
