CREDIT UNION READY TO RENT SPACE AT TOWN HALL
Release Date: November 17, 2004

AT&T Credit Union received approval from the members of the Greenburgh Town Board to rent unneeded space at Greenburgh Town Hall earlier this year. There were some delays but the Credit Union is now ready to sign a lease with the Town. A new proposal has been discussed - half of the space they were originally  planning to rent would be used for a CABLE TV studio. They would rent the other half of the space.
There are many benefits to this proposal. The town will generate some additional revenue (about $20,000 a year). In addition, the Credit Union offered to donate $5 a new member to the GREENBURGH NATURE CENTER--helping the Nature Center with their terrific work!
WHAT IS A CREDIT UNION? A credit union is a not for profit financial institution that offers better rates on credit cards, loans and savings accounts. More than 80 million people in america are members of a credit union. They don't issue stock or pay dividends to outside shareholders. Earnings are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, lower fees. People helping people. Every member counts is the motto!
This rental agreement could be a real win for the town. Not only will we generate revenue and some additional money for the Nature Center, but employees who work at Town Hall will get a great new perk--having the convenience of a credit union at Town Hall. And, residents who frequent Town Hall will also benefit from being able to join the credit union. An ATM machine would also be installed at Town Hall.
