A THANK YOU FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY...RECYCLING INFO (TOMORROW)
Release Date: January 02, 2014

Have been receiving calls from residents about tomorrows recycling).  We will try to continue with our recycling program tomorrow. However, if it’s too dangerous to send out crews, we will cancel. If recycling is cancelled tomorrow due to the snow,  I’ll post the information on the town website. Today, our crews worked on getting ready for the storm. We loaded the trucks and we’re ready to go…. Be safe!

Dear Friends of the Greenburgh Library:

On behalf of the Friends’ Board of Directors, I would like to thank you and the entire community for helping to make this the most successful year ever for the Friends.  Between our annual Book Sale and sales in our Book Store, we have been able to give more than $22,000 to the Library this year for program support and staff development.  And you did it!  Not only did you buy the books from us, but you gave your donations of thousands of gently used books that we could then sell to everyone else.  Thank you.

I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that it is only 10 months till our next annual Sale (October 18 through 20) and to ask that you keep supporting the Library with your purchases in the Book Store (at $1 per book, why not?) and, equally as important, please keep donating your books to us.  Don’t be concerned if your books are not the newest or in the best condition.  Books that we can’t sell are recycled appropriately by a job-training nonprofit in Connecticut and made into pulp.  Only the books that are moldy or buggy actually go into the garbage – but that doesn’t happen often.

For more information on the Friends, and for more specifics on books accepted for donation and how to donate, (especially if you have a large number of books to donate) please see our web site,  (www.friendsofthegreenburghlibrary.org), or leave me a message at  914-574-6582.  Thank you again for your support.

Linda Karesh
President, Friends of the Greenburgh Library
