WIFI IN THE PARKS INFO
Release Date: December 23, 2004

Earlier this month the Greenburgh Town Board voted against a proposal I initiated  to WIFI two parks (AnthonyVeteranParkand YosemitePark). The Board deleted from my 2005 proposed budgeta few thousand dollars for this initiative—to provide wireless internet access to visitors of our parks next year.

I am not going to give up the fight. I am writing to the members of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and will seek their endorsement of the concept.  I still hope that we can WIFI at least two parks in the town in 2005 (Anthony Veteran Park/pooland YosemitePark).

In the 12/23/04Christian Science Monitor (www.csmonitor.com) there is an interesting article FREE NET ACCESS FROM THE MAYOR? T the United States ranks 10th in the world-far behind countries including No1 South Korea-in providing access.  Dozens of cities and towns across the country –from Chaska, Minn; Philadelphia, Penn;  to Corpus ChristiTexasare providing free wireless access to residents.  Greenburgh should be a leader in providing our residents with high quality services. WIFI is inexpensive and would add to the quality of life.  PAUL FEINER
