GREENBURGH GOT LUCKY! STORM UPDATE #4--roads passable, no power outages,
Release Date: January 27, 2015

Greenburgh got lucky! The projected blizzard of the 2015 reminds some town officials of the fire drills that we experienced during our school years. We had a chance to prepare for the worst, work with utility companies, first responders  and other government agencies. Every time you practice you learn and get better for the next time!  It could have been a horrible storm but it wasn't.

Just got off the phone with both the Greenburgh police department and our highway department. The police report that the main roads in Greenburgh are all in good shape --the secondary roads are being addressed. Our highway department has been working all night - a total of 35 trucks were assigned to keep the roads safe and passable. It is still advisable to stay home until a little later in the day.

According to the police so far there were no reported power outages, no  trees down.   The Governor lifted the travel ban.  The blizzard warning was downgraded--although wind gusts of 20-30 mph are projected.  there is no bus or paratransit service today-service will resume tomorrow.

Permit and meter regulations are suspended today - we should be back to normal tomorrow.

We will begin hauling snow tomorrow night - today will be spent cleaning up the sites and piling the snow for hauling from our sites - we probably will haul throughout the week and perhaps over the weekend as well.

Our office is open during regular hours today
