Our water tanks need maintenance and a paint job! Last year only one company bid so we rejected the bid and are trying again. STUDENT KATIE SIMS SPONSORING WORKSHOPS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS -LEARNING HOW MEDIA IMPACTS THEM AND HOW THEY CAN USE FILMMAKING TO TELL THEIR STORIES---CLASS ON MAY 9TH AND MAY 16TH
Hello, I'm Katie, and I'm a Girl Scout currently working on my Gold Award. This is the highest award you can earn as a Girl Scout, and mine centers around teaching younger students about media and filmmaking and using both to spread a message, tell a story, and even create positive change in the world.
For this project, I will be holding two, one-day workshops at Woodlands High School, open to any area middle school student. Students will learn about how the media they witness affects them and how they can use filmmaking to tell their stories. They'll learn about storytelling and the class will write, film, and edit a short film of their own.
The workshops will be held on May 9th and May 16th, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. All equipment will be provided. A fee of $10 will be used to provide snacks and a DVD of the final project.
