HACKLEY SCHOOL TO PAY FOR MAJOR NEW SIDEWALK ON BENEDICT AVE

HACKLEY SCHOOL WILL PAY FOR A MAJOR NEW SIDEWALK ON BENEDICT AVE –1,700 FEET  -ABOUT A THIRD OF A MILE- THAT WILL ENABLE PEDESTRIANS TO WALK FROM ROUTE 119 TO THE CASTLE!  WATCH THE LINK
 
Hackley School, which is located in the unincorporated section of Greenburgh, is seeking permission to construct a 116,725 sq. ft. Health and Wellness Complex with two gymnasiums, a natatorium, eight squash courts, a wrestling room, a fencing room, and an indoor track on their property. They need permission from the Town Board. At the Town Board meeting on January 28, 2016 the attorney for the applicant confirmed that they will also pay for and construct a 1,700 FOOT SIDEWALK—about a third of a mile that will enable pedestrians to walk from Route 119 to the Castle. Last year an 850 square foot sidewalk was built on Route 119/Benedict as part of the Brightview Senior Living Facility. And Stop & Shop complied with a condition and built a 1,600 ft sidewalk on part of Benedict.
 
When the new sidewalk  a significant portion of Benedict will have a sidewalk!

At last night’s Town Board meeting Board members heard presentations from 3rd grader’s at Highview School (part of the Greenburgh Central school district). They discussed the interactions they have with robots and provided Town Board members with a demonstration. Ardsley High School Robotics Club also made a presentation to the Town Board. These students are going to have a head start over other students. They are learning coding, robotics, computer programming and will be in line for terrific jobs when they complete school because  they will have so much experience.  Major companies are looking to hire trained coder’s. Our schools are preparing students at a young age for the jobs needed tomorrow!
