James Brandfonbrener is 2016 Herb Pomeroy Jazz Composition & Arranging Contest Winner!
Congratulations to James Brandfonbrener of Edgemont, who was selected as the winner of the sixth annual Herb Pomeroy Jazz Composition/Arranging Contest, sponsored by Berklee College of Music’s Jazz Composition Department and Professional Writing Division. His winning piece, Waltz for Last Summer, will be performed by the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra at the 2016 High School Jazz Festival on February 6th, 2016 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA. As winner of the contest, James will receive a full scholarship to the Berklee 5-week Summer Performance Program. In addition to having his piece performed at the Jazz Festival, James will also be performing with Edgemont’s Chamber Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and newly-formed Jazz Combo. I have invited James to an upcoming meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board so we can honor him on his impressive accomplishment.
