HARSHITA SHET WINNER OF GREENBURGH SPELLING BEE- TO COMPETE NATIONALLY
Release Date: March 15, 2016

Harshita Shet won the Greenburgh School district/Theodore Young Community Center 4th annual spelling bee championships on Friday. She will be going to Washington later this spring participating in the Scripps National Spelling bee championships -which is televised nationally.  Harshita won the last two local spelling bee competitions and had an impressive showing in DC last year. Hopefully, she will be a winner this year!

This year's competition, which was held on Friday, was very exciting. Two twins, Katie Eng and Emma Eng came in 2nd and third and Adam Pasqual competed for about an hour for 4th place. The students competed 74 rounds of very difficult words which were provided by Scripps National Spelling bee. About 500 words were exhausted.

The students started the competition at 7 PM and the competition ended after 11:15 PM. I have asked the school district to provide me with a you tube video of the last hour that I can post. You'll be amazed at how smart the students are. If mistakes were made at the end it was because the finalists were tired. One thing for certain: these students and the other competitors are going to have very brilliant futures ahead of them.
