3 NEW SIDEWALK FUNDING APPROVED--SEELY, SPRAIN, FORT HILL--2016 CAPITAL BUDGET OK'D
Release Date: May 19, 2016

The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved the 2016 capital budget. The budget, as amended by the Town Board, is posted in the comptroller's section of the town website: www.greenburghny.com. Or--via the link below. The entire  budget is $9,326,514.

Three  major new sidewalks will be built this year--enabling children to safely walk to school. The sidewalks:

* Seely Place --(Seely School)

* Fort Hill Road from Ardsley Road towards Jackson Ave (we probably will get to Highpoint). Hope to also construct a sidewalk from Ardsley Road to the Greenville School

* Sprain Road to Ardsley Middle School

We appropriated  $960,000 for sidewalks.

Pedestrian safety is of great importance. Last week I met with the leadership of the Juniper Hill Civic Association and the Commissioner of Public Works about building a sidewalk on Juniper Hill Road to the Lee Jackson School. I hope that work on that sidewalk could start in 2017.  I hope that our Congressional delegation will appropriate more federal funds to sidewalks that connect to schools --to enable local governments to do more to encourage communities to encourage children to walk to school.

The Board added $863,000 to the proposed capital budget to rehabilitate the roof of the Theodore Young Community Center and wall.
