DEADLINE DECEMBER 6 TO COMMENT ON PROPOSAL THAT WILL HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE HUDSON RIVER
WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ALONG THE HUDSON RIVER DO YOU WANT TO SEE SOME UGLY BARGES?

Included herein is an email from former Under Secretary of State and Hastings resident, Judith McHale.  She has forwarded a plea from Ned Sullivan, President of Scenic Hudson, asking that as many people as possible forward their objections to the US Coast Guard's proposed plan to "park" up to 43 barges clustered in 10 anchorage area.  The largest  of those anchorage areas is adjacent to Hastings, allowing for up to 8 barges to be parked along the breadth of our waterfront. Many of the sites are north of Greenburgh  but Yonkers, Hastings and to a lesser extent, Dobbs Ferry on the lower Hudson River will have their waterfronts despoiled. The deadline is December  6th.

FROM THE FORMER UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE AND HASTINGS RESIDENT JUDITH MCHALE
I am forwarding an email I received yesterday from Ned Sullivan, President of Scenic Hudson, concerning the upcoming rulemaking proceeding relating to the proposed new anchorages in the Hudson River. As you will note from the press release Ned attached to his email, this is a matter of enormous consequence for all of us who live along or near the Hudson River.

I recognize that many of you have already submitted comments to the Coast Guard and I encourage any of you who have not yet responded to add your voices to this important initiative and to share this email with your networks.
I know from my time in government that regulators respond to public pressure so it is important that all of us  make our opinions heard. It is especially important to act now before the new anti -environmental protection administration takes office in January.

Thanks.
Judith
McHale
