ROADS WERE TREATED WITH BRINE ON FRIDAY IN ANTICIPATION OF SLIPPERY CONDITIONS...HOLIDAY PARTY DEC 2
Release Date: December 11, 2016

In anticipation of the slippery road conditions expected late Sunday the Department of Public Works has been proactive.  Many of our roads that have caused problems in the past were treated with brine on Friday.  Brine helps accelerate cleanup and keeps roads safer during the early portion of snow, icy road conditions. Brine also saves overtime costs and reduces injuries. Placing brine on the street also helps with traction in advance of crews coming out to clear snow.

This is a link to an article about brine that appeared in a Boston website. Brine is used by other public works departments around the country in anticipation of snow.
